The proposed network will
fund a speech and language therapist within the existing
speech and language service to work specifically with the
schools and their pupils.
The role of the person would be:
- To assess the needs of children referred with
speech and language difficulties.
- To work directly with children assessed as in
need of specialist treatment.
- To devise individual programmes of support for
parents and schools.
- To provide training and information to staff within
schools to enable them to provide appropriate support
to pupils identified. A network of trained staff could
be set up to share practice in this field and to receive
training and information.
The professional line management and training will
be provided by the Speech and language Service. The strategic
deployment of the resource and the priority of the role
would be determined by the Partnership corporately and
by individual schools in consultation with the therapist.
The role would require a therapist with at least
two years experience. |
